Presentation

Some antidepressants are first-line treatments for neuropathic pain, which is pain resulting from a lesion or pathology of the somatosensory system.

The main aim of our project is to extend our knowledge of the mechanisms by which antidepressants can act on neuropathic pain, in order to improve these treatments.

Our work focuses on the peripheral (nerves and dorsal root ganglia), spinal (spinal cord) and supraspinal (brain) mechanisms of these treatments, taking into account the anti-neuroinflammatory effects of antidepressants, as well as the sensory and emotional components of pain.
