Compensatory endocytosis and vesicular recycling
Stéphane ORY
Presentation

The plasma membrane is an asymmetric phospholipid bilayer which is hugely reorganized in neurosecretory cells mostly during calcium-regulated exocytosis.
Fast and massive supply of vesicular membranes must be compensated by endocytosis to maintain plasma membrane homeostasis. Molecular mechanisms involved in exocytosis-endocytosis coupling are still not well understood.
Our results indicate that the plasma membrane asymmetry, the Phospholipid Scramblase-1 (PLSCR1) and Rho GTPases regulators are instrumental in exocytosis-endocytosis coupling in neurosecretory cells. Using cell imaging approaches and biochemistry, we characterize molecular events that lead to lipids and protein recapture after exocytosis.
